NEYWODE

Rooted in community.
Focused on what comes next.

The Network for Youth and Women Development, NEYWODE, is a community-based organisation working to support young people, women and families in northern Uganda. We work alongside communities to address practical challenges affecting everyday life, from education and livelihoods to health, hygiene, skills development and environmental action.

OUR STORY

Where we began

Peace returned. The work of rebuilding remained.
For two decades, conflict and displacement disrupted life across northern Uganda, affecting education, livelihoods and families. When peace returned, many communities were still living with the consequences. In 2022, community members came together to respond. What began as a voluntary initiative became NEYWODE, formally registered in 2024.Today, we continue working alongside communities to create healthier, more stable and more economically secure lives.

WHY WE EXIST

Because rebuilding is about more than rebuilding buildings.

A community’s recovery is shaped by many things: education, skills, health, clean water and opportunities to earn a living.

That’s why NEYWODE works across different areas of community life, helping people address immediate challenges while building stronger foundations for the future.

Our goal is simple: to help create the conditions for communities to move forward.

LOOKING AHEAD

There is still work to do.

The challenges facing young people, women and communities do not have one simple answer. But progress can begin with practical steps.

A skill learned. A girl returning to school. A healthier home. A new source of income.
A young person finding another path. These moments may seem small on their own. Together, they help shape stronger communities.

That’s what we’re working towards.
